Why I Stop and Look Around

"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." - Ferris Bueller

Alright, it's time to focus! Pay attention and get to work! Keep moving forward! Let's do this! That's kind of the mindset these days, isn't it? It seems like everyone is looking to get more done in less time and to just go, go, go. I fall into that thought process a lot and I'm sure many of us do.

What's the point of all that efficiency and productivity, anyway? I'd much rather pause and take my time to see where I am—to be in that moment 100%. This is what happens when I stop and look around...

I look up a lot. I get mesmerized by clouds, sunrise and sunset colors, tree branches, birds, the moon. As the cliche goes, I often have my head in the clouds. And as a result, I also take a lot of photos of the sky. Part of my creative process is about paying attention to things that go unnoticed, photographing them, and then sharing them for others to see.

Below are a few of my sky photos. When I create these, I freeze my moment of contemplation so that those who buy the image can enjoy it, too. It's my way of giving you a bit of serenity for your wall and reminding you that it's important to stop and look around once in a while.

Clouds are also great in black and white, they add mood, drama, and dimension.

A recent visit to the Grand Canyon happened to be on a cloudy day.

Maybe it's because of the sunshine and cloudless skies in Southern California that I get so excited about clouds? Denver has shown me all sorts of clouds in the short time I have been here and I'm looking forward to more!
