What Are You Eating—a food photography project
The What Are You Eating? project began with an exploration of the harmful ingredients and artificial colors in Easter candy and has since evolved to be a statement on many of the harmful unknown ingredients and practices in modern foods. In order to fully express what I wanted to say, I created diptychs. Each diptych shows first the wonderful food and then a representation of what is wrong with that food. That image on the right is the one I want people to think about. What does that choice mean for their kids, for themselves and for the environment because not all foods are created equal. We have to be our own advocates because if we aren’t aware of what is in the food we eat we put ourselves at risk. This project is intended to raise questions in the viewer; questions that will instigate learning and eventually change.
