Social media and the internet are both great but if you want to grow your business in-person networking is not optional. Many artists and creatives are introverts (I am 100%) but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t make an effort and get out there. So I’ve put together some networking for introverts tips. My tips are based on Susan Cain’s book, Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Stop Talking. I found the book very helpful and I use these tips myself.

Last week this blog got hacked and it was not even a little fun to get everything sorted out. After all that work writing posts and uploading photos, the thought of having it all gone made me sick to my stomach. In an effort to help those that have not been through something like this I will share what I learned when my site was hacked.

Pardon my soapbox moment. This is a mini rant on a topic that I feel very strongly about. Sorry, I can’t help it. It needs to be said. Again. It’s 2015 and social media is everywhere. Lots of people are doing it and as an artist you should seriously consider it as one of your marketing outlets. But the way you do it can either help or hurt you.

I make a living with social media – I’m no expert – but I make a living. Doing so has taught me a lot and I continue to learn more every day. Social media can be a great way to promote your work and connect with an audience all over the world. Or can it? The question was posted by photographer friend Peter Tellone about whether you can sell art (real art) with social media given that people spend so little time looking at anything anymore. In this age of instant everything most don’t want to stop to think, much less to feel something. So how can your art succeed?
